Our Story
Sunset Metal was started by two Amish brothers with years of roofing and construction experience who saw an opportunity to build a company around quality, practical workmanship, and doing right by customers.
From the beginning, the focus has been simple: use good materials, build things the right way, and treat people fairly. That mindset still shapes how we approach both roofing and metal building projects today.
Being locally rooted matters to us, and so does keeping the process straightforward for customers. We believe people should be able to ask questions, get honest answers, and understand what they’re investing in.
Much of our growth has come through word of mouth, repeat customers, and the kind of trust that gets earned one project at a time. We’re proud of that, because reputation is built the same way good structures are: carefully, and over time.
Sunset Metal was built around a simple idea: focus on doing one thing well and do it right. We believe in the exceptional strength, versatility, and quality building solutions that metal can provide. From metal roofing to metal buildings, we work with property owners across West-Central Illinois who want durable solutions, honest communication, and workmanship they can count on.
Based in Roseville, Illinois, we serve customers within roughly 60 miles, including Galesburg, Peoria, Macomb, and Burlington. While Sunset Metal was founded in 2021, our team brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience and has completed over 1,000 roofs. That depth of experience shapes how we approach quality, problem-solving, and the kind of work we’re proud to call our own.
Why We Chose to Build Around Metal
We focus on metal because we believe in it. Metal roofing and post-frame structures offer durability, efficiency, and long-term value when they’re designed and installed properly. Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, we’ve built our work around doing this one category exceptionally well.
On-Site Fabrication
For many roofing projects, we fabricate panels on-site using New Tech Machinery rollforming equipment.
That helps us provide:
- Panels cut to fit the project
- Less material waste
- Better fit and finish
- Efficient installation with fewer delays
It’s one of the ways we try to do the small things right.
Carefully Chosen Materials
We believe the quality of the finished job starts with the materials.
That’s why we work with suppliers we trust, including:
- Swan Creek Garage Doors
- Midwest Central Truss
- United Steel Supply
- Morning Star Metals
- Precision Builder Supply
Those relationships help us deliver the quality we want while keeping value strong for our customers.
Structural Details That Matter
We pay attention to the details that affect long-term performance.
That includes:
- Premium fasteners and washers built for durability
- Perma-Column systems for post-frame structures
- Material and gauge selections matched to the project
A lot of what makes a roof or building hold up well over time is found in those details.
What Customers Can Expect Working With Us
Working with us should feel straightforward, honest, and well organized from the start.
Customers can expect:
- Clear communication from estimate through completion
- Practical recommendations based on the project, not a sales script
- Honest pricing and realistic expectations
- Quality-focused installation and construction
- A team that respects your property and your investment
- Attention to the structural details that often get overlooked
- A contractor focused on long-term solutions, not short-term fixes
We also believe good projects start with good conversations. That means taking time to answer questions, explain options, and
help customers make informed decisions without pressure.
We believe the process should be as dependable as the finished work.
